The residents of Chikmagalur and Kodagu districts experienced medium showers on Saturday.

It was time to pull out the umbrellas and rain coats from the cupboards to carry on with their schedules. While some children were gleefully enjoying in the rain. Chikmagalur, Balehonnur, Mudigere, Narasimharajapura received heavy rains while Sringeri and Koppa town experienced moderate rainfall.

Lightening claimed four cattle, at Sangameshwara pete in Devadana Gram panchayat limits. The cattle belonged to Umesh and Krishnappa.

Heroor, Seegodu, Soobla, Kadlemakki, Rambhapurimutt, Menasukodige, Vaatukodige and surrounding areas received rainfall for more than an hour.

The roofs of two garages in Narasimharajapura was affected in the rainfall.  Though the rains had brought relief from the scorching sun, the rain is not good for the coffee and arecanut plantations. The coffee beans kept for dry has been washed away in the rain.

Many growers have not yet completed the process of harvesting. “With the rain, the coffee plant will start flowering and the coffee beans will start withering. The growers will incur loss with less yield,” said the growers.

Heavy rains lashed Madikeri,Napoklu, Somwarpet, Siddapura and surrounding areas.
