Urging the district administration not to reclaim the land cultivated by the poor, Karnataka Raitha Sangha office bearers staged a protest in front of taluk office on Friday.

The protesters submitted a memorandum to the district administration through tahsildar on the occasion.

They said that the State government should initiate measures to reclaim land encroached by the landlords and distribute it among poor.

Raitha Sangha state secretary D S Nirvanappa said that according to Dr Balasubramanya committee report, about 12,000 acre government land has been encroached in the district. The government should reclaim it.

The district administration should distribute title deeds to 62 poor families who have been cultivating on government land at Andanipura in 6th Hosakote. Land should be distributed among poor siteless in Koodige.
