While the controversy over setting up actor Vishnuvardhan’s memorial in Bengaluru remains to be settled, fans in the city have decided to take out a protest march on November 21, demanding the installation of their favourite hero’s statue in the city.

Addressing media here on Thursday, Dr Vishnu Sena Samiti president and former corporator M D Parthasarathi said that “Sahasa Simha,” as the actor was popularly known among his fans, was a pride for Mysuru and Mysureans. He had contributed enormously towards the development of Kannada film industry and also Kannada language. Besides, he was generous towards helping the deprived class. The civic body, considering his contributions, must instal his statue at Curzon Park, adjacent to the Palace, he urged.

Vishnuvardhan during his 37 year-long career, had acted in more than 220 movies. “Even though his contributions are remarkable, no authorities have come forward to do something memorable in Mysuru, in the name of Vishnuvardhan,” Parthasarathi lamented.

The rally will be taken out from Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple premises at Mysuru Palace north gate and will culminate at the deputy commissioner’s office. A memorandum will be submitted to Deputy Commissioner C Shikha and MCC Commissioner C G Betsurmath, in this regard.
