A routine of two hours Yoga, 16 hours of activities and six hours sleep is the key to healthy lifestyle, said Yoga exponent Baba Ramdev, here, on Friday.

He was delivering his inaugural speech, during the Yoga Deekash and nation building programme, organised by Pathanjali Yoga Samithi and Bharath Swabhiman Trust, at JSS Women’s College, in the city.

Stressing on natural and balanced food, he said, even those diseases which cannot be cured by modern medicines can be cured with regular Yoga and Pranayama. “Apart from a healthy self, a healthy nation is very important. By adopting Yoga, Ayurveda, local languages and swadeshi economy, we can build a healthy society,” he said.

Even after 65 years of Independence, we are yet to come out of the hangover of British colonialism. English has become integral in our day to day life. In the process, we are weakening our own languages. We are losing our culture and thus self-respect, he said.
Ramdev stressed on Yoga for children as, he said, it develops concentration and helps acquiring of knowledge. “Yoga also keeps one fresh and active throughout the day,” he said.

He also gave a demonstration of various Yogasanas and explained about their health benefits. Seers Bramhadev Swami, Divyajnananda Swami, Sarpabushana Swami, Channabasava Swami, Jnana Bantheji, F D Joseph and others were present.
