The chief minister, along with some of his Cabinet colleagues and Chief Secretary Sudhakar Rao, had hosted a high tea to the Governor at Raj Bhavan.
Yeddyurappa also felicitated Thakur with Mysore peta and garland.
Rameshwar Thakur left Bangalore on an evening flight along with his family members. He had taken charge as the Karnataka Governor on August 21, 2007, and served for 22 months.
Speaking on the occasion, Rameshwar Thakur said: “Karnataka is a land of rich resources and intellectuals. During the last two years as the Governor, I not only had a privilege to govern the State, but also to interact with the intelligentsia here.”
Meanwhile, the newly-appointed Governor Hans Raj Bhardwaj is scheduled to take oath as the 16th Governor of the State at the Raj Bhavan Glass House on Monday evening.
Karnataka High Court Chief Justice P D Dinakaran will administer the oath.
Bharadwaj, who is former union law minister, is scheduled to arrive in Bangalore at 12 noon on Monday, Raj Bhavan sources said.
