In an effort to provide clean and safe drinking water to the residents at an affordable price, the City Municipal Council and Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board (KUS and DB) has set up a drinking water unit, which has received good response from the people.

The common complaint from the people was the water supplied was unfit for consumption. Now, this purification and distribution unit has come as a great relief to the residents.

It has been set up near the Anganwadi centre in Bhramarambha Layout and 20 litres of water can be collected for Re 1, while private companies have been supplying it for Rs 10 to Rs 40 in bottles.

With good response, the district administration has decided to set up two more units in ward eight near NTM School for the benefit of the people of that locality.

“However, the residents should keep the premises clean and not to waste drinking water just because it is easily affordable,” said Avinash, a resident.
