 Industry bodies, including the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry, discussed the need for increasing the growth of the manufacturing sector by overcoming various constraints in the 12th Plan.

A clear cut policy should be evolved to address issues like power scarcity, rigid labour laws, shortcomings in connectivity and non-availability of land, they suggested.

Members of civil society shared their views on their role in designing new programmes and their effective implementation and ensuring inclusive growth.

Samuel Paul, Chairman of the Public Affairs Centre, and Prof Deshpande, Director of Institute of Social and Economic Change, ministers and top officials of the southern states, including Karnataka, were among the participants.
