The legal team representing Karnataka has advised the State government to abide by the Supreme Court order on release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.
Soon after the apex court’s verdict on Friday, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar met the team headed by Supreme Court senior counsel Fali S Nariman.
“The legal team advised the Karnataka government to obey the order of the Cauvery River Authority (CRA), and now directed by the Supreme Court, and release water immediately,” Mohan Katarki, a Supreme Court advocate on the panel told Deccan Herald.
“Though the State has a good case against the CRA order, it should first obey the order forthwith by releasing water,” he added. The advocates have advised the government against approaching the court again.
Shettar said he would place the legal experts’ opinion before the all-party meet slated for Saturday for discussion.
