He was speaking at the CMC’s  special meeting on Saturday. The shop owners in M G Market have been paying a paltry rent of Rs 100, 125 and 150 from a very long time. If the CMC does not increase the rent then its exchequer will be badly hit, he added.

CMC members P Dayanand, Kodanda, Rasheed Khan highlighted the drinking water problem and demanded that the Commissioner address the drinking water crisis in the region.

Unanimous decision was taken at the meet to repair the dysfunctional borewells at a  cost of Rs 20 lakh. In future, the digging and maintenance of borewells should be handled by the officers at the Water Supply Board, the members suggested.
