Former union minister Veerappa Moily on Wednesday said the NDA government’s move to seek the resignation of UPA-appointed governors went against the Supreme Court order of 2010.

Speaking to mediapersons here, he said the order stated that governors cannot be summarily removed just because of a change in the government at the Centre.Governor H R Bhardwaj who is in New Delhi, will return to Bangalore on June 21.

According to Raj Bhavan sources, Bhardwaj who met President Pranab Mukherjee has decided to continue with his earlier schedule of staying in the national capital till Saturday.

Bhardwaj had on Tuesday stated that there was no question of him resigning from the Governor’s post till the completion of his tenure. Bhardwaj’s five-year tenure ends on June 29.
