Forty houses have collapsed in Davanagere and another 20 in Shekharappa Nagar besides three to four houses each in Neelamma Thota, KTJ Nagar, Bhagat Singh Nagar, Anekonda, Basapur and Hadadi village.

Excluding Channagiri, the district witnessed heavy rains on Tuesday averaging 30 mm. In many villages paddy fields totalling to the extent of about 160 hectares were flooded, according to Joint Director of Agriculture R G Gollar.

Shimoga district witnessed heavy rains from Tuesday night thru Wednesday morning. Rains lashed Hosanagar, Tirthahalli, Sagar, Shikaripur, Sorab, Bhadravathi and Shimoga taluks continuously in the night. However, no loss of life or damage to houses was reported.

Linganamakki reservoir recorded an inflow of 8,354 cu sec of water, according to official sources. Heavy rains have also been reported in various parts of Shimoga.
