Come New Year's Eve, it is party time for many citizens. While some preferred private parties with close friends and relatives at their homes, a large number of tourists visited Raja Seat to get a glimpse of the setting sun.

At midnight, people were seen wishing each other for a prosperous new year.

The homestay and resorts were booked for the new year celebrations. The visitors savoured 'Pandi curry," kabab, biriyani, "Kadambuttu," "Nippattu," "Paapittu" and other delicacies along with liquor. The youth danced at campfires.

There was a brisk sale of wine and other liquor in Madikeri. With a large number of tourists visiting Madikeri, the traffic was disrupted in the town.
