Madikeri, DHNS: As the water level of River Cauvery has declined to a significant extent at Dubare in Kushalnagar taluk, activities of boat riding and rafting have been stopped.

The tourists have been crossing the river from one bank to the other by walking across the river.

The temperature level has been on rise in Kodagu for the past three years, during the pre-summer season. A 34 degree Celsius temperature was recorded on February 20.

Tourism and coffee cultivation are feared to be affected due to high temperatures.

Dubare River Rafting Association core committee member C L Vishwa said that over the past three years, the water flow is declining in the River Cauvery in Dubare as early as February and March.

Tourists are not turning up as there is no rafting activity. More than 100 families which are dependent on tourism are struggling to make their ends meet.

Rural Agriculture Meteorological Service Division, Mysuru officer Dr G V Sumath Kumar said that the temperature in Kodagu has witnessed a considerable rise and has reached 34 degrees Celsius.
