As a part of BLR Hubba, Chaarana Labs has put together an immersive experience focusing on Bengaluru and the Cauvery river. It is called ‘River Realms’.
.
The immersive experience is divided into two parts — augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). After showcasing the exhibition at Panchavati in Malleswaram, and Bangalore International Centre in Domlur, the immersive media studio is bringing it to the newly opened Sabha on Kamaraj Road.
.
The AR portion of the experience focuses on the relationship between river Cauvery and Bengaluru. “For this, the viewer uses a tablet to see where Bengaluru and Cauvery are located, the distance between them, and how the water travels to Bengaluru. Not many are aware that three pumping stations are required to transport the water to Bengaluru, as there is a significant elevation,” shares Krishnaprasad Jagadish, co-founder. He started the organisation in 2023 along with co-founders Raksha Rao and Sairam Sagiraju. They are based out of HSR Layout. The same year, the company launched Immersive India, an Apple Vision Pro app featuring 3D VR videos about India. These video experiences provide a glimpse into the beautiful landscapes of states such as Rajasthan and Odisha. They also feature social impact stories.
.
They have created a similar video focused on Bengaluru. It is six minutes long. “This is a social impact film that follows the life of a naturalist, who lives in Bheemeshwari, in the Cauvery wildlife area. His life is completely dependent on the river. We get to see things from his point of view. It touches on topics like water scarcity and the Mekedatu project. It is important for city dwellers to be a part of these conversations, as our actions directly impact the river,” adds Krishnaprasad. Using a VR headset, this experience virtually transposes you to the lush river banks where there is abundant wildlife.
.
While the AR experience is free, the VR experience costs Rs 100 per person.
.
In the coming year, Chaarana Labs plans partner with schools and event organisers in the city to set up similar exhibitions throughtout the year.
.
‘River Realms’ is on from December 12 to 15, 12 pm to 7 pm, at Sabha, Kamraj Road.
