Tata had only disclosed that he was asked to pay a bribe of Rs 15 crore for a licence to start an aviation company.

But what he had not revealed was that Rs 20 crore was given as bribe to authorities by an existing aviation company not to give Tata a licence, he alleged.

“We should not blame the system for its loopholes, as it is nothing but our own reflection. We have to change it, as it is our own country,” he noted.

Book release

Gopinath was participating in an interaction programme organised by BVB College of Engineering & Technology, the Indus Entrepreneurs Chapter, and Sahitya Prakashana here on the occasion of the release of the second print of ‘Banayana’.

The book is the Kannada translation of his autobiography ‘Simply Fly: Deccan Odyssey’.
