Rs 4 lakh more for rain hit: Deshpande

Revenue Minister R V Deshpande said that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has released an additional fund of Rs four lakh towards immediate compensation to the rain havoc victims in Dakshina Kannada.

Speaking to reporters after conducting a review meeting at the DC's office in Mangaluru today, the minister said that there was a loss of seven human lives, 12 cattle and 167 acres of crop.

As many as 748 houses are damaged. A large number of people are injured. Bridges and roads have collapsed.

During his visit to the rain-affected places in the district, Deshpande paid a visit to the areas affected by sea erosion on Ucchila near Ullala.

He also called upon the injured victims in connection with rain-related incidents, availing treatment at A J Hospital and district Wenlock Hospital.

Meanwhile, he directed the officials to carry out relief measures on a war footing. No official must avail leave unless it is an emergency, until further orders, the Revenue Minister said.
