Party in person, Santhosh B Min of BTM 2nd Stage had filed a PIL against Azim Premji of Wipro Technologies and other respondents, stating that Azim Premji had encroached upon 23 guntas of land in Kempapura Tank Bed area.

However, Premji counsel said when the encroachment was pointed out by A T Ramaswamy’s report in 2007, a fresh survey was ordered and Wipro in 2007 had removed the boundary wall and erected a new boundary according to correct measurements.

Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice Manjula Chellur were not amused by the petitioner’s claim of encroachment and lashed out against the frivolous petition. The Court observed that Azim Premji was impleaded without obtaining any information.  The petitioner has been given three months time to deposit the amount with the Advocates Welfare Fund.
