Raghu, a former member of the Karnataka Badminton Association (KBA), has named his wife Sonali Suresh, KBA secretary Sudhir,  Sub Inspector Lakshmidevi (formerly with High Grounds and now attached to Ashok Nagar police station), Hemanth Kumar (formerly with Basaveshwarnagar and currently with Bharathinagar police station), and constable Narayan (formerly attached to Basaveshwarnagar police station), and Deputy Assistant Postmaster Venkatesh, as accused in his complaint.

According to the complaint, Kumar and Narayan were paid Rs 72,000 to book a case under Section 498 of IPC (husband or relative of husband subjecting a woman to cruelty) after Sonali lodged a complaint. Sonali had deserted him 22 days after the couple got married, Raghu stated.

“Sonali used my own money to lodge a complaint against me. When I got bail in the case, Venkatesh lodged another complaint against me and got me arrested,” Raghu said.

False complaint

The RTI activist alleged that Sudhir lodged a false complaint against him with the High Grounds police when, as a member of KBA, he objected to irregularities in the accounts of the Association and filed a complaint with the Consumer Forum.

Raghu alleged that Sudhir paid Rs 75,000 to Lakshmidevi to book a case against him.

“The bribe was paid with the membership fee I had paid to the KBA,” he alleged. He claimed that he had ample evidence and witnesses to support his allegations.

The Special Lokayukta Court Judge, N K Sudhindra Rao, received the complaint and said an order would be passed  on Wednesday.
