Members of the Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene have complained that sand has been mixed in the complex fertiliser distributed by Coromandel Fertilisers Limited.
District Convener of the Raitha Sangha, K Srinivas Gowda, had purchased a 50-kg sack of the fertiliser from Srinivas Fertilisers on MB Road. Suspicious of its quality, he shifted the fertiliser to a drum and added water to it, to find that five to six kgs of sand had been mixed to it.
He immediately filed a complaint with the Agriculture department Assistant Director Gayathri.
The members have demanded the department officials and the deputy commissioner
to initiate action against the company.
