SC Collegium clears five names for elevation to HC

The Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice Deepak Misra has recommended names of five judicial officers for elevation to Karnataka High Court.

The Collegium has recommended the names of Ashok Golappa Nijagannavar, Hethur Puttaswamy Gowda Sandesh, Krishnan Natarajan, Pralhadrao Govindrao Mutalik Patil and Appasaheb Shantappa Bellunke.

The SC Collegium stated, “On the basis of material on record and having regard to all relevant facts, the Collegium is of the considered view the five are suitable for being appointed as judges of the Karnataka High Court.”

Six names proposed

The Collegium of the Karnataka High Court had proposed six names on January 13, last year.

The proposal was taken up for consideration by the Supreme Court Collegium twice in November 2017 and a month later. However, the consideration of these names was deferred thereafter.
