Superintendent of Police Dr Sanjeev M Patil said that security has been strengthened across Udupi district in the wake of BJP's Parivarthana Yatra for two days from November 12.

He was speaking to media persons during phone-in programme in Udupi on Saturday.

He said that DAR and KSRP platoons have been deployed. "Check posts have been opened at 24 locations in the district. No untoward incidents occurred in Udupi district during Tipu Jayanthi celebrations," said the police officer.

Survey

Experts from the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) along with the police have conducted a survey on accident spots on the national highway to find a solution check accidents, he said.

"The police personnel and MIT experts have inspected the spot and identified the loopholes on the road structure. The survey has been completed from Udupi to Hejamady. It will be taken up till Sasthana. The experts will submit a draft copy on the survey report, which will be submitted to the deputy commissioner," said Dr Patil.

The superintendent also received complaints on illegal sand mining and quarry in Kundapur taluks. The public complained that laterite stone quarry is functioning illegally at Hosooru in Jadkal. Illegal sand mining is carried out unabated in CRZ area in Kumbhashi.
