Sri Siddarama Chaitanya Swamiji of the mutt, met the deputy commissioner, Dr P C Jaffer, and submitted a memorandum requesting him to direct all the gram panchayats to take up sterilisation of stray dogs in villages.
He said the killing of healthy dogs in the most barbaric manner is highly condemnable and action should be take against the culprits.
Need of the hour was to bring that temple under the Department of Muzrai to check such incidents in future.
Dr Jaffer, who gave a patient hearing, promised to take necessary action in this regard.
It may be mentioned here that more than 50 dogs were killed in the most barbaric manner by injecting poison after tying them to trees near the temple.
