The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has served a notice on Arun Shyam, the advocate for  Raghaveshwara Bharathi (the seer of the Ramachandrapura Mutt), to appear for an inquiry.

The pontiff has been accused of raping a Ramakatha singer. Shyam has written back expressing his inability to appear before the CID sleuths for the inquiry.

“Serving of a notice on me by the CID is against the set norms. Hence, I sent across a letter through registered post in this regard on Thursday,” the lawyer told Deccan Herald.

He said that it was another effort to prevent him from fighting the case in the court of law.
A criminal case has been registered against the seer in the Banashankari police station in Bengaluru.
