Karnataka State Tanda Development Authority, will soon be declaring selected tandas in the State as revenue villages, announced its Chairperson Jalaja Nayak, in Mysuru, on Friday.

Speaking at a programme in the city, Nayak said the Authority has written to the government in this regard, as the government had issued a circular way back in 1993 itself.

According to the circular, all the tandas were supposed to be converted into revenue villages. It was followed by another circular with a few changes, issued in 2013. However, of the 375 tandas identified for revenue villages, only two have hardly witnessed any development in the past few years, she said.

The State has also sanctioned 34 acre land for training and development of the members of Lambani community, at Lagari, near Humnabad.

Several universities have also come forward to impart education to the community, she said.
Lambani community halls are being opened in the districts where the population of the said community is more. In Mysuru, the land has been identified at Srirampura for the purpose, with Rs three crore sanctioned for the purpose. The works are expected to start soon, she added.
