'Selfie' competition makes annual fest techNIEks 2015 special

National Institute of Engineering (NIE) on Mysuru-Manandavadi road in the city on Thursday wore a festive look, as ‘techNIEks 2015’, the annual fest of the college got underway.

Students took part in various activities organised on the opening day, including a mix of cultural programmes, quiz and games.

However, the highlight among them was the ‘selfie game’, where the best self-captured photographs on cellphone cameras, were given prizes. While some danced to the lilting music, students turned singers during antakshari.

Holi
Holi, the festival of colours was played, followed by tug of war, lagori, celebrity quiz, football quiz among others.

Earlier in the day, DCP (Law and order) Vinayak Patil who inaugurated the fest called the students to take active part both in academics and extra-curricular activities.

Competitive exams
However, he cautioned the students about decline in the number of students enrolling for post-graduation.

The PG courses will help, especially those who appear for competitive exams, he said. NIE management committee secretary S K Lakshminarayan said that students should evince interest in activities like music and sports to shape a better life.
