A delegation of Sri Rama Sene activists submitting a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Channappa Gowda, demanding not to damage Basaveshwara temple and Kathri Maramma temple while widening city roads.

If Kathri Maramma temple is damaged, then it will hurt the sentiments of the Hindus, said Taluk unit President Umeshchandra. Basaveshwara temple in Hanumanthappa Circle is very old and one and a half feet land belonging to the temple will be utilised for road widening.

However, the authorities should not damage the compound wall, said Priest C R Ravishankar. While widening Uppalli road, the district administration did not touch dargha in the vicinity. In the same way, Boothappa mandira and Basavanna temple should be preserved.  The members warned of severe protest, if the authorities fail to pay heed to their demands.
