A special meeting convened on Tuesday said that the project would be handed over to the board for two years and in case there were complaints on poor maintenance and unsatisfactory works, it would be withdrawn.

Raju of water supply and sewerage board who explained about the maintenance of underground drainage, the CMC should remit Rs 60 lakh to the board as maintenance cost.
Rs 15 would be collected from every house during this period and the city municipal council has to bear the expenses of any new work that has to be taken up, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, CMC president Arun Kumar opined since the council lacks skilled staff and technology in maintaining the UGD system, handing over the maintenance to other boards is  better. The government too has given a nod, but the final decision lies on the CMC, he said.

Shankaregowda and Hosahalli Boregowda who attended the meeting opposed handing over the maintenance to boards and said that UGD board itself is responsible for majority of the existing problems.
