Addressing a news conference on Wednesday, Motamma said that instead of making statements that opposition has not been functioning properly, it is better Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa first learns how to get opposition into confidence and rule the State.
“The CM has said that opposition members are guarding the home of Governor. If the State government rules the state according to its own wish, without paying any heed to the opinion of the opposition, where else can we go,” he questioned and clarified that there is nothing wrong in bringing the failures of the Government to the attention of the Governor.
“The CM has a long experience of sitting in the opposition. He should know that he should think before he makes statements,” she said.
Speaking about the North Karnataka flood, Motamma said that it has been a year but yet the victims have not been provided with proper houses. “The temporary houses provided have collapsed. Instead of helping the victims, our CM is visiting Tamilnadu, Lalabaugh and also attending fashion shows. Is is correct,” she questioned and asked why should the opposition not talk about this. She said that no developmental works are happening in Chikmagalur district and District-in-Charge Minister too is not bothered to inspect the district. Taking on MLA C T Ravi, she said that Ravi pokes his nose into all matter but the matters of his concern and importance. He should have asked the Government to provide the charge of District-in-Charge Minister to MLAs from the district but he has not done it.
Speaking about sand mining in the district, she said that illegal sand mining has been going on blatantly in the district and this has been affecting the river bed as well as the bridges across River Hemavathi.
“Sand mining in going on openly in places where mining has been prohibited. JCBs and boats can be seen working even in the night. Deputy Commissioner should visit these spots and inspect,” she said.MLC Gayathri Shanthegowda, former minister B B Ningaiah and others were present.
