“The study of various religious scriptures has enabled Shourie to essay man’s fundamental problems of life in his latest work. It’s not easy for a man to have a wife suffering from Parkinson’s and a son afflicted with cerebral palsy. Shourie has shared his experiences in dealing with his family,” Murthy said.
Murthy, who retired from Infosys last week, was speaking after releasing Shourie’s 26th work at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) here. Murthy hailed the book as an account of man’s sufferings.
On the occasion, Shourie shared his experiences in bringing up his only son, Aditya.
“People believe having such a son is a punishment for the misdeeds committed in your previous birth. When a virtue befalls us, we say it’s from God. But when something bad happens to us, we ascribe it ourselves and hence, keep quiet,” Shourie said.
He also said that the Upanishads were not written by the gods. Rather, they are an account of what the gurus taught their disciples.
