A Sri Lankan man on Saturday alleged that his son, who is a social media activist, has been abducted by the police.

Several parts of the state, particularly those in the north, received light to moderate rain on Thursday.

Rain lashed Hubballi city for about 30 minutes in the evening bringing respite from scorching sun. The sudden rain caught people unawares and pedestrians, motorcyclists ran for cover as the skies opened up.

Rain accompanied by hailstorm lashed Chincholi in Kalaburagi district on Thursday night. Power supply in several parts of the town was affected.

Chincholi had been recording maximum temperature of around 40 degrees Celsius for the past one week and Thursday's showers had a cooling effect. It drizzled in parts of Belagavi city for about 10 to 15 minutes. Sky remained overcast in Belagavi. Gadag town, Gajendragad and Mundgod in Uttara Kannada district also received rain towards evening.
