Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday took to task the deputy commissioners (DCs) of four districts who have reportedly been ‘inconsistent’ and are ‘delaying’ the issual of Scheduled Tribe (ST) certificates to the Gonda and Raja Gonda community.

Concentrated mostly in the districts of Mysore, Kodagu, Gulbarga and Yadgir, the community was recently added to the list of ST communities by the Union government. However, tahsildars in these districts are said to have been delaying issue of ST certificates and in recognising them for the benefits meant for tribal communities.

Complaints were received by Siddaramaiah in this regard.

Siddaramaiah called the DCs of all the four districts to his residence and took them to task. Sources privy to the meeting said that the deputy commissioners were asked to stop being ‘mischievous’ and a ‘pain’ to the community and to immediately start issuing the certificates.
