Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has given his approval to replace the slouch hats worn by constable staff of the Karnataka Police Force with navy blue peaked caps, a well-placed source in the Home Department told DH.
The state police had proposed green beret hats for constables at the State Police Conference on Friday. However, Siddaramaiah felt those hats resembled the ones worn by home guards and scouts and guides, and suggested opting for blue peaked caps instead.
"Officers above the sub-inspector rank wear khaki peaked hats, so for constables, the department chose a different colour. The constable hats will have minor changes in the design,” the source told DH.
The source stated that there was a long-standing proposal to change the design of constabulary hats, as their sophisticated design caused discomfort when worn.
