Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah has “fully recovered” and his latest throat swab result has come negative for Covid-19, a statement from his office said Wednesday.

“Doctors have informed that Siddaramaiah will be discharged from hospital on Thursday,” the statement said. “The throat swab test conducted for the second time has returned negative. Even his blood tests are negative.”

Siddaramaiah was admitted to Manipal Hospital on August 4 after he tested Covid-19 positive. “He had fever for the first two days only. Thereafter, he had no symptoms,” according to a statement from his office.

Siddaramaiah’s son and Congress MLA from Varuna Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah had tested positive for Covid-19 on August 7.

Siddaramaiah’s recovery from Covid-19 coincides with his birthday. He turned 72 on Wednesday.
