Former chief minister Siddaramaiah, who was trounced in the Chamundeshwari Assembly segment, visited Mysuru district, exactly one month after the elections.
The election was held on May 12 and Siddaramaiah left the Mysuru city on May 13, stating that he will return on May 14 evening. The counting was held on May 15.
G T Devegowda of the JD(S), who is now a minister in the H D Kumaraswamy-led coalition government, trounced Siddaramaiah by a sizable margin of over 36,087 votes.
Siddaramaiah, who is now an MLA of the far-off Badami constituency in Bagalkot district, stayed away from his native Mysuru district.
On Tuesday, Siddaramaiah met his supporters from the villages of Chamundeshwari segment as well as from his earlier Varuna constituency, at his residence in T K Layout in the city. Varuna is now represented by his son Dr Yathindra, who won with a huge margin of 58,616 votes.
Speaking to the media, he said, if Kumaraswamy says that there was rampant corruption in his government, let him ascertain it, as he is the chief minister now.
