Mysuru: Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah’s son and MLC Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah Tuesday said that his father has only stated that he will lead the Congress party to victory to form the government again in the elections but will not contest the next election.

Speaking to media persons, in Mysuru, Yathindra said, "His recent remark of forming the next government is being misinterpreted that he wishes to be CM for a third term."

“He has said that, given a chance, he will lead the party in the next election to victory, not that he will contest the election. He has not spoken on the issue with me, but he had told me that he will not contest the next election," Yathindra said.

It can be noted that Yathindra, who was the Varna MLA, could not contest the 2023 Assembly elections as Siddaramaiah himself contested from the constituency. Later, the former was made MLC.

In reply to a question, Yathindra said, "Siddaramaiah will complete his full five-year term as CM. Who has asked for his resignation? Has either the party high-command or the MLAs asked? So, there is no issue of change in CM. There will be CM aspirants in all parties. Thus, there will be discussions. Both the high-command and MLAs favour my father. AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge himself has instructed the party leaders not to discuss the issue," Yathindra rounded off.
