MUDA case: Yathindra Siddaramaiah hints at getting back sites surrendered by mother Parvathi

'As there were allegations against the allocation of alternative sites for her land, my mother was hurt. Now that the probe cleared my family, I will speak to my mother', Yathindra said.

Mysuru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son and MLC Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah Tuesday hinted at getting back his mother’s 14 sites of Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) in Vijayanagar, in Mysuru.

Speaking to media persons, in Mysuru, Yathindra, while replying to a question on the issue said, "My parents will make a decision on getting back the sites. I am yet to discuss it with them. As it is my mother's property, her opinion and decision is important in this matter."

The Lokayukta Police, in Mysuru submitted a report before the Special Court (for cases involving elected representatives) in Bengaluru, on February 20 wherein giving a clean chit to the family members of Siddaramaiah, his wife B M Parvathi and brother-in-law B M Mallikarjuna Swamy and the land seller J Devaraju in the case.

The case was probed by the Lokayukta Police on the directions of the court, on the basis of a complaint filed by RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna.

As per the complaint, Devaraju sold the land to Mallikarjuna Swamy on August 25, 2004. It was converted from agricultural land to non-agriculture land later. On October 6, 2010, Mallikarjuna Swamy gifted the land to his sister, Chief Minister's wife Parvathi. Parvathi submitted representations to MUDA, from 2014, seeking compensation for the said land acquired by MUDA. On December 12, 2021, the then MUDA Commissioner D B Natesh allotted 14 sites on an alternative developed area on a 50:50 ratio.

Later, the Enforcement Directorate also took up the case for a probe. In the wake of the developments, Parvathi surrendered all the sites to MUDA on October 3, 2024.

Dr Yathindra said, “As there were allegations against the allocation of alternative sites for her land, my mother was hurt. Thus, she returned the sites to MUDA. After the Lokayukta submitted the report before the court, I have not spoken with my mother. I will discuss the issue with her. We will take further steps on the basis of her opinion”.
