Ganesha festival turned tragic for three youths, who were killed, when the tractor in which they were bringing Ganesha idol to their village, collided with a mini-truck near Borgal in Hukkeri taluk on Thursday.
All of them, including six others injured in the accident, were from Mugali, Chikodi taluk. Anand Shendale, 16, Anil Madig, 20, and Pradeep Beldal, 18, died on the spot. The injured have been admitted to the district hospital.

In another accident on National High - 4 at Tevaramallihalli in Shiggaon, Haveri district, a private bus toppled killing three persons on the spot and injuring 27 passengers. Conductor Satish Shalavayya from Mysore, 25, Sridhar Panik of Wali district in Kerala, 70, and Nitin from Mumbai died on the spot, while the injured have been admitted to hospitals in Davangere, Hubli, Haveri.
The passengers, who sustained minor injuries, were given first aid at the spot of the accident.
The driver of the bus which was on its way from Mumbai to Bangalore, lost control while trying to avoid colliding with an autorickshaw. Movement of vehicles on the highway was disrupted for hours.
