Students who have been allotted seats at the Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), Mysore can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the college has decided to admit them.

The decision was taken at a meeting attended by Higher Education minister R V Deshpande, principal secretary, Higher Education department Rajneesh Goel, Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) director, Chakravarthi Mohan and chief administrative officer, SJCE, Mysore, Umakanth, here on Sunday.

These students have now been asked to immediately report to the college. All those eligible can again exercise their seat options for the college in the second round of option entry. The time for the second round for entering options has also been extended till 4:30 pm on Monday.

SJCE had moved the High Court, questioning the number of seats fixed by the KEA. The KEA could get only 45 per cent of the over 100 unaided seats at SJCE, but it went ahead allotting seats in the ratio of 95:5.

This led to deadlock between the government and the authorities of SJCE.
