The civic authorities have decided to build a skywalk across the busy Airport Road for pedestrians safety.  Senior officials of City traffic police held a meeting with the officials of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and the National Highway Authorities of India (NHAI)  on Saturday over construction of skywalk at Kempapura junction.

The meeting was held two days after the gory death of two youths, including a student, who were run over by a water tanker, near Esteem mall on Airport road.

A senior traffic officer said, “The meeting was held on finalising  the construction of a skywalk at Kempapura Junction, opposite to Esteem Mall. The traffic officials were present to provide their input and also to brief the Palike and the NHAI officials about the traffic density at the junction during the peak and non-peak hours of the day.”

“We have asked them for a service road at the Kempapura Junction and the stretch of the service is yet to be decided. We have also explained to them about the importance of the skywalk at the spot,” he added. The BBMP Commissioner M Lakshminarayana was not available for comments.
