Slain soldier's body arrives in B'lore

The body of Satish, the CRPF solider who was killed in a suicide attack by terrorists in Srinagar, arrived in Bangalore late on Thursday night.

The mortal remains of Satish were brought aboard an Air India flight from Delhi and were received at the Bengaluru International Airport by Home Minister R Ashoka and Health Minister Aravind Limbavali as representatives of the State, along with K Arkesh, IG of CRPF, Karnataka and Kerala sector.

Satish’s remains will be taken to Mandya by CRPF personnel and kept for public viewing on Friday morning. In the afternoon, his remains will be taken to his village Alambadi in K R Pet taluk of Mandya district, where the last rites will be performed.

Home Minister R Ashoka said, “We are very proud that Satish belongs to our State, but he had to sacrifice his life to terrorist activities. We will give all the respect and honour to Satish and his family.”

Ashoka said that the Mandya Deputy Commissioner had been asked to make all the arrangements to receive the remains of Satish.

CM condoles

Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar has expressed profound grief over the death of CRPF soldier N Satish.

The chief minister has announced a compensation of Rs five lakh to the family of Satish, according to a statement issued by the chief minister’s secretariat.
