The mortal remains of the soldier was received at the Bengaluru International Airport on Monday by the Army and family members. It was later transported to his native Goravanahalli Village of Nelamangala Taluk.
Lance Naik Gururaj (27) is survived by his parents, wife and an eight-month-old son. He had visited his family three months ago. They reside at Chamarajapet in the City. His former senior colleague in the Army, Nagesh who also hails from City said Gururaj was devoted to the Army. “He died defending the nation,” he said.
