Congress president Sonia Gandhi is visiting the city on October 18, to take part in a convention organised by the party.
The meeting, to be held at the Nehru Maidan, is aimed at strengthening the party ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
Former union minister B Janardhana Poojary told a press meet on Saturday that around 15,000 party workers were expected to participate.
KPCC president G Parameshwara, MP Oscar Fernandes, MPs, MLAs, and MLCs from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts will take part in the convention. Gandhi is also scheduled to visit the Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara temple for a pooja.
