There has been a major rift in the Raitha Sangha as a section of the members are unhappy with the political decisions taken by the leaders regarding the Lok Sabha election and difference of opinion between office-bearers in the taluk unit.

The rift in the sangha has come to the fore as some of the members held a meeting separately at Laxminarasimhaswamy temple, on Thursday.

Raitha Sangha former district president Melapura Swamygowda, general secretary D S Chandrashekar, former taluk panchayat member Manjesh Gowda, treasurer Nagendraswamy and others participated in the meeting.

Swamygowda accused that the principles laid down by sangha leaders like M D Nanjundaswamy and Rudrappa have been neglected by opportunistic politicians, encouraged by current office-bearers.

He said, the leaders have taken a decision to support the Congress, without consulting the members.

Earlier also, when former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa took out a padayatra from Mysore to Bangalore, the leaders supported him without consulting the members, he added.

Manjesh Gowda said, a meeting of all unhappy members will be held in two days to decide about forming a separate sangha.
