Spread awareness on HIV/Aids: DCStudents take out jatha in town

Addressing the World Aids awareness programme organised by District Health and Family Welfare Department with various other organisations, he said that despite commendable progress in the field of science and technology, HIV/Aids is still an incurable disease. In this backdrop, people in general and youth in specific must prevent themselves from becoming victims of Aids.

Zilla Panchayat CEO N Krishnappa said that Aids is like an ogre. “There is a need to spread awareness on this disease at the grassroots level,” he said.Inaugurating the programme, Editor of ‘Shakti’ news daily B G Ananthashayana said that there is no escape once a person becomes victim of Aids.

District Aids Control Officer Dr K G Siddaiah explained about the various modes by which a person can be infected by Aids. K T Baby Mathew from Snehashraya Samiti, District Aids Control Cell Supervisor Sunitha also spoke.

Earlier, a jatha was taken out from Saraswathi D.Ed College to Kaveri Kalakshethra. Health Assistants, Nursing students and various SHG members took part in the jatha.
