Nadadur said that several answer sheets were examined at the meeting and they found that the mistakes were conducted in totalling of the marks in the answer sheets and not in the evaluation process itself.

“Each answer sheet has several parts and each part constitutes marks. We found that the examiners had not given the grand total correctly and in many instances, not added marks of one part at all. Further these papers have to be cross checked by the Deputy Chief of the evaluation camp and this has not been done correctly either,” the Principal Secretary said.
He also said that would be taking strong disciplinary action as the errors were ‘quite blatant’. In case of negligence, an inquiry will be ordered, he added.

He further stated that the reason these errors were committed was still not clear as the number of papers, an examiner had to evaluate had been reduced to 20 per day this year, as opposed to 26-28 earlier.

Both the Department of Public Instruction and Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board have been instructed to draw a list of erring examiners over the next two days and issue notices to them.

One more topper emerges

Devamsh G N, a student of KE Board’s Composite Junior College, has also come first to the State in the SSLC examinations, after revaluation, DHNS reports from Dharwad.
Earlier, Devamsh had secured 610 marks out of 625, and now after the revaluation, his total marks are 618.

KE Board Chairman Anand Kabbur, the college Principal M G Sindagi, and others have congratulated Devamsh.
