He said the government has already released a sum of Rs one crore towards the construction of Suvarna Samskrithika Samucchaya. If the work is started, then the remaining Rs 50 lakh will be released. The Samskrithika Samucchaya which were sanctioned to other districts have been completed, he added.

Now a land near wood depot near Sudarshan guest house has been finalised for the construction of Samskrithika Samucchaya.

However, Kodagu will receive rainfall in the first week of June and the work on the complex can be started only after October-November. In fact, during the coalition government in the State, the then Kannada and Culture Minister H S Mahadevaprasad and the then District-in-Charge Minister Ramachandra Gowda had laid foundation for the Samskrithika Samucchaya at Junior College Maidan in Madikeri. However, with the stiff resistance from various organisations, the work was stalled and the venue was shifted.
