State seeks 1000 MW more power from Centre

Addressing reporters in Bangalore on Friday, the minister said he held talks with Union Energy Minister Sushil Kumar Shindhe and officers concerned regarding the power crisis. The State had been facing wide gap between the demand and production of energy. The demand was around 7,877 MW while the supply was only 6,100 MW, he said.

Acharya said a Belgium company had come forward with a proposal to set up a gas based power plant in the state. The company had sought around 200 to 300 acres of land for the project. The government had not yet taken the final decision, he said.
