State seeks Centre's aid for road upgradation

Speaking to reporters at the sidelines of a function, Shettar said the State government had initially sought grants for the project under Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana, but was rejected by the Centre.

He said the government has now urged the MPs from the State to raise the issue in the Parliament. In another proposal, the State has submitted a proposal to build new roads to connect 1,400 villages across the State at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore. Earlier, the minister inaugurated an orientation programme on quality monitoring of project taken up under PMGSY.
