Speaking after presenting the Tulu Sahitya Academy honourary awards for the year 2009, Acharya said the State government will once again take up the issue with the Centre. He said the government was committed to implement the resolutions passed at the World Tulu Sammelana held at Dharmasthala earlier this year. Grants for completing the Tulu Bhavan in Mangalore will be released soon.

Primary and Secondary Education Minister Visvesvara Hegde Kageri said students in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi can opt Tulu language as an optional subject in school from the academic year 2010-11. He said the process of printing textbooks is in full swing.
Annamalai University Centre for Advanced Study in Linguistics Director Dr Ramakrishna T Shetty, Yakshagana exponent Kanchana Sanjeeva Rai and theatre-cinema artiste Bhoja Suvarna were presented Tulu Sahitya Academy honourary awards.
