Around 24 people, including children, were injured in a rabid dog attack in the town, on Thursday.

According to residents, a stray dog went on a biting spree from Wednesday evening that continued till Thursday morning. While it attacked 17 people on Wednesday, five people were bitten by the canine on Thursday.

The dog attacked the Town Municipal employees Nagaraja and Mahendra, who tried to catch it before escaping. However, they chased the dog and caught it on the outskirts near Lakshmipura village and tried to control it. But finally, it died during the operation.

Speaking to DH, TMC president K S Uma said, all measures would be taken to catch the stray dogs from September 2. Experts will be brought from K R Nagar, Mysuru district, for the purpose. The public have been advised to keep their pets at home as the TMC will not take any responsibility if the dogs are allowed to stray on the roads, she warned.
